Dream catcher in Biwako Valley in the summer as a thunderstorm approaches

I took this in a place called Biwako Valley, which is a ski resort located up a mountain and isn’t a valley at all. We got there by taxi from a house in Otsu, then had the taxi driver wait for us while we went up to shoot. As we entered the cablecar boarding point there were these Tibetan style flags and a native American dream catcher tied up over our heads.

I warned the director that there might be thunder, but we had already committed and were running out of time so we started up the mountain. Before we reached the last station we were running out of time so we stopped where we were and started breaking out our gear.

By the time the cameras were out the blue sky was obscured and a dark grey cloud had skewered itself on our mountain. The sky had gone, the light had gone and the whimsical date scene we were about to film suddenly looked more like a Silent Hill offcut.

We got what we could, then headed back down the mountain. Needless to say, by the time we were leaving the skies were blue again, but we were out of time and had to head to our next location.
